The speaker actually sounds quite good, but definitely won't handle much low end. The MPC One features sixteen illuminated and velocity-sensitive drum pads, four 360 touch-sensitive knobs, a large rotary encoder and a full-colour 7' multi-touch display. It is a powerful and flexible sampler which can operate in stand-alone mode. I personally would prefer if C&G still made an Organelle without the speaker as I'd rather use my own and have a smaller machine for when playing it into a larger system, but I can't complain and definitely for many people this makes the instrument more instantly accessible. The MPC One is the compact version of Akai’s MPC Live. I also love the feel of the wooden keys, even if they are not the easiest to play at first. A synth, sequencer, sampler, drum machine, MIDI, controller, or whatever you want to do with it can be crafted by your efforts for a truly customisable music computer.
I have yet to delve deeply into Pure Data properly but even the patches available from the community well showcase the flexibility of this instrument and it is lear that the possibilities are endless. As much as the OP-1 is hyped and is indeed an amazing (if somewhat overpriced) instrument with its own set of unique features, when these are compared it is clear that the Organelle goes far beyond in ability in many areas.
